Founded in London in 1923, Norman Hartnell was a British designer best known for his work for the British royal family. He famously designed Queen Elizabeth II’s wedding dress in 1947 and was granted a Royal Warrant. In addition to royal commissions, he created costumes for theatre and film, establishing himself as one of the leading designers of his time. He also produced costume jewellery, characterised by intricate detailing using enamel, rhinestones and pearls, along with refined craftsmanship. His pieces were particularly popular in the mid-century period and remain highly regarded by collectors and fashion enthusiasts today.
