Silver belt & buckle motif ring.

The engraved details resemble botanical motifs.

The belt or buckle motif symbolises protection and loyalty, as its fastening form represents security. Its circular design also recalls the ouroboros, the serpent devouring its tail, and came to stand for eternity.

In the Victorian era it was often used in mourning jewellery, representing “eternal remembrance” and the bond of the family left behind. It was also a popular token of eternal love and fidelity.

シルバーのベルト＆バックルモチーフのリング。

植物モチーフのような彫り模様も見られます。

ベルト／バックルのモチーフは、しっかり留めることから守護や忠誠を意味し、また輪を描いて元の場所に戻る形がウロボロスに似ていることから「永遠」の象徴とされました。ヴィクトリア時代には「永遠の忠誠＝記憶を永遠に留める」という意味からモーニングジュエリーとして用いられ、残された家族の絆を深める象徴でもありました。また、同様に愛する人への永遠の愛を誓うモチーフとしても人気を集めました。
