Our latest collection features antique and vintage jewellery with bow motifs, presented over two weeks.
Bow motifs were hugely popular in fashion last year. Not only in clothing, but many of you may have noticed bows appearing everywhere in accessories and homeware as well.
Here in London, the V&A has been hosting an exhibition on Marie Antoinette, where many lovely bows from the 18th-century Rococo period are also on display.
By the way, the name of this collection is “Bow Wow Wow”. In English, “bow wow wow” is the sound a dog makes, but “bow” is also the word for a ribbon bow. We combined it with “wow”, an expression of excitement.
And Bow Wow Wow also happens to be the name of the band who sang I Want Candy, featured in my favourite Sofia Coppola film Marie Antoinette — which makes the connection feel even more perfect.
The first part of the collection features classical pieces using marcasite and rhinestones.

These delicate earrings feature a silver bow set with marcasite, with a teardrop glass pearl gently suspended beneath.
They date from around the 1900s–1920s, and have already found a new home — thank you very much.
However, we actually have another similar pair of small bow and teardrop pearl earrings. They have not yet been uploaded to our Shopify site, so if you are interested, please feel free to contact us by email.

Next is an unusual bow brooch made with rhinestones strung together using wire.
Because it is constructed with wire, the bow can move and bend slightly, almost like a fabric ribbon.
This piece dates from the 1930s–40s. A lovely ribbon that would look beautiful worn on the chest or attached to a hat.
This one has also already found a new home — thank you very much.

Next are some classical bow pieces set with marcasite.
The subtle sparkle of marcasite gives them a very chic atmosphere.
From the left, clockwise: a French bow brooch from the 1930s–40s, decorated with delicate openwork detailing.
A silver bow brooch thought to date from the 1940s–50s. The slender, flowing ribbon design is very charming.
Another silver bow brooch from the 1940s–50s. It features striped openwork detailing, and the fuller shape gives it a lovely presence.
The piece placed behind them is not a cushion, but a vintage cartonnage box. It is covered in fabric that appears to be a reproduction of an antique textile, and it is quite beautiful.
The lid is softly padded like a cushion, making it perfect for displaying brooches just like in this photograph.

From the top: a silver bow ring set with marcasite. The three-dimensional knot design is quite unusual, almost as if a real ribbon has been tied around the finger.
A simple and classical silver bow brooch set with rhinestones. This small brooch dates from the Victorian era, and would look charming pinned to a collar, neckline, or even on a hat.
Finally, a small silver bow brooch set with marcasite from the Art Deco period. With its openwork construction and delicate frilled edging, it is a beautifully detailed piece despite its small size.
Now we move on to the second part of the collection.
For this second selection, I gathered charming bow pieces from the 1940s–50s onwards.

Among all the pieces in this collection, this is my top pick: a bow-tie style choker necklace set with lovely pink rhinestones.
With its vivid pink stones, a modestly sized bow, and a silver-tone mesh metal chain, it has a very unusual design.

From the top: a bow-shaped brooch set with iris glass from the 1940s–50s.
Iris glass, with its beautiful pink, green and blue tones shimmering within clear glass, is a much-loved material among vintage collectors.
This piece features a lovely design with delicate filigree work at the centre.
Next are clip earrings with a metal bow and teardrop pearl drops.
Both the bow and the teardrops are generously sized, giving them a charming presence. They date from around the 1970s–80s, and the metal is decorated with embossed floral detailing.

From the top: a gold-tone brooch from around the 1940s–50s featuring a flower and milk glass beads. Behind the flower spreads a ribbon-like gold form, and below it hangs a cluster of milk glass beads resembling small berries.
Next is a twisted gold-tone ribbon brooch from the 1980s. The rope-like twisted ribbon design is accented with pearls at the ends.

Starting from the top right and moving clockwise: a gold-tone ribbon brooch and matching earrings from the 1980s.
The gold-tone metal has a mesh-like textured finish, giving it the appearance of a ribbon made from golden fabric. The brooch has a bold presence, while the matching earrings are equally charming.
The playful red plastic bow necklace dates from the 1960s. Its bright, vivid red colour is wonderfully eye-catching. It would look lovely worn like a bow tie under a collared blouse.
Finally, the gold-tone ribbon clip earrings are from the 1980s. The edges are finished in silver tone and decorated with small clear rhinestones, giving them a beautifully detailed design.
From classical antique pieces to playful vintage designs, this collection brings together a variety of bow motifs.
We hope you will enjoy exploring each ribbon and discovering your favourite in the shop.
